CRAFTfest Preparations - Adding HTML to your descriptions

Step 3: Add Descriptions with Links

Ok, so you have your image and your title, you’ve told you customer how much they have to pay….now you need to tell them what it is. There’ll be a more informative post about writing good descriptions later in the week, but for now we’ll just try to get a description with a link to where they can buy it from our own online shop and a link to additional items.

Right, first you want to expand the little window so you can see more of what you are doing. In the bottom right hand corner drag the box downwards so you have a little more visibility, this makes it a lot easier to see everything that you are typing without having to scroll.

Now your window is nice and large you can start typing. But what do we enter? Well to start with I enter the title again, as when the customer scrolls to see the description I cannot see the title and price on my computer screen as my screen is too small. I use some nice html here to make it look pretty on the page. If you don’t know any html then here’s a quick brief on the code you can use:

<a href=”page url” target=”_blank”>link name</a>
This gives This is my link
This html can be used to put links in, where the page url is the address from the address bar (also known as the link) and the link name is the name you want to give to the link.
<u>Title</u>
Title – This lets you underline your titles, I normally combine it with the next one to give bold and underlined titles.

Or you can combine it with the italic to make it all slopey.
<b>Title</b>
<i>Title</i>
Title – this is the bold example
Title – this is the italic example

Right, so now we’ve learnt the html shortcuts let’s make some fancy descriptions. Mine looks like this:
<u><b>Tangerine Honey Bee – Keyfob Wrislet Keyring</b></u> – £2.95 +P&P

<u><b>Where to buy:</b></u>

<u><b>Description:</b></u>

Slip this little beauty over your wrist to stop that horrible habit of putting keys in our mouths when we have shopping bags and children to get into the house or car at the same time. No need to worry about dropping your keys again!

Fabulous brightly coloured flower Honey Bee cotton fabric by Robert Kaufman, with gorgeous white and black floral designs.

I created this wristlet key ring from several layers of quilting weight 100% cotton fabric and interfacing for durability and texture. The keyring is soft to the touch, however it is also given rigidity by the heavy-weight interfacing. All my items are made to the highest standard and are all unique.

<u><b>Dimensions:</b><u>
This keyfob is approximately 1 inch wide (2.5cm) and has an inner circumerference of approximately 10 inches (25.5cm), The hardware is made from stainless steel and is included with the product.

Simply attach your keys (split ring included also) and slip over your wrist to keep your keys with you and available at a moments notice. I find they are particularly useful when walking through a dark carpark at night, I know I can run, beep the car and I’m in straight away.

<u><b>Care Instructions:</b></u>
Machine washable at 40 degrees, but please take care with small parts. Due to small parts this product is unsuitable for children under the age of 3 years old.

<u><b>Matching items:</b></u>

Additional matching items can be purchased separately. This listing is for the product shown in the first image only, and all props are also not included.

<u><b>Postage, Packaging and Gift-Wrapping:</b></u>
All items are handcrafted from my studio in Cardiff, Wales which is a smoke and pet free environment. All items are ready and waiting to ship to their new homes. Although pattern placement of fabrics may differ from those shown.
