Hi, I'm Lu, and I live just outside of Keswick in the beautiful Lake District in the north of the UK. As Handmade In Keswick, I make contemporary mixed media art, some of which I feature on handmade sketchbooks, notebooks and journals, which I sell offline and online via Folksy and Etsy. My work is a bit quirky and unusual, but I find that people seem to look at pieces and know immediately who they're gonna buy for. The books especially make lovely little hostess gifts and thank you gifts for when you don't want to give flowers or chocs. My current obssessions are portraits and free machine embroidery, and whatever I am doing at any one time, I also seem to enjoy making a mess.

I have been making my crafts for nearly 15 years now and enjoy doing very much. It all started when I lived in Germany. I decided that I would like to take up a craft, so I taught myself how to make the lovely Ribbon Decorations which I have in my CRAFTfest stall. It all started with the basic Ball decoration and then just expanded to different shapes. They are all individual and unique in some way.
I then branched out and began making other items made from fabric such as the Brooches and other Tree decorations. I also make Plaited Wreaths from fabric amongst lots of other things at Christmas Time.
I like to attend local craft fairs but mainly nearer Christmas, especially one which is held in our town centre, it has been very successful for me the last two years that I have attended.

I have had a passion since childhood for fossils and gemstones & have been collecting for many years. As a family we go on fossil hunting expeditions, but there is only so much you can keep for yourself, so crafting with fossils and gemstones is a real treat! I enjoy knitting, crochet and working with yarn and wool, making items from simple scarfs through to hand made handbags. Inspiration often taken from nature, or by the look of how differing yarns, wool and other products work together. Each of these items will be unique and guaranteed hand made.I enjoy recycling and upcycling and a recent passion has been creating items from Gent's neck ties, handbags, aprons, accessories and a variety of other items.
